Why does asphalt crack? The answer can be found in a number of determining factors. The cause could be tree roots, often poor drainage, freeze and thaw cycles over the cold seasons and/or oxidation from sun or from excessive weight. Whatever the cause, asphalt cracks allow moisture and water to penetrate the pavement. During the winter this freezing can cause some serious issues. Then come Spring and Summer, weeds and grass take root in the cracks causing even more damage.
With existing asphalt cracks, your best defense against pavement deterioration is crack sealing. By sealing cracks you can extend the life of your pavement considerably and prevent more costly repairs.
A fast curing, premium quality, hot applied single component crack and joint sealant that will seal larger cracks up to 1 1/2″ in width. First we remove dirt and vegetation from the cracks using any required combination of routers, hand tools, power blowers, and heat lances.
The crack sealer is heated to approximately 350 degrees in a melting unit, transferred to an applicator, and applied directly to the cracks. The excess material is banded over the crack to form a tight seal. While no crack filler is permanent, the hot pour is a much longer lasting, more durable product.
